25 Work Outfits with Men's Clothing for Strong and Stylish Boss Ladies - Fashion

Unisex clothes are conquering the runway and the streets. We see similar silhouettes for both genders, the freedom to choose what you want to wear and pull it off in your own way. You could invest in such pieces from new collections – the hard broad shoulders of Saint Laurent and Givenchy, the double-breasted fastening of Gucci, the straight legs trousers of Tom Ford. But why not just borrow these pieces from your partner’s wardrobe (or brother’s, father’s, best friend’s, etc)? It’s both more sustainable and pocket-friendly. Here are some ideas for work outfits you can recreate with men’s clothing.

P.S. Christmas is just around the corner. So when choosing his Christmas present why not choose something which you can borrow and wear as well? I’ve linked some suggestions below but comment below with more ideas for us all.

Jacket

Oversize jackets are so trendy now. My partner has a black velvet jacket which he likes but only gets to wear once in a while. So why have it sitting in the wardrobe without anyone wearing it? Here are my two favourite ways of styling it – as a cape by tucking the sleeves in or rolling up the sleeves for a masculine look.

Jeans

If you’ve started with a jacket, why not borrow his jeans as well? I couldn’t style these myself cause I’m writing this article 8 months pregnant so even his clothes don’t fit! But here’s some brilliant inspo from the web. His jeans make for a perfect casual office look and you can easily swap the flats for heels for a chic night out after work. Wear with a plain white shirt or a jumper for a smart casual look or with a structured blazer for chic elegance.

Shirt

You can create gorgeous looks regardless if the shirt is bigger or similar to the size you normally wear. My partner and I are a similar size. So whilst I feel very comfy in his shirt just because it’s a loose fit, it doesn’t look bulky or too casual for the office. Especially when worn with a high waist skirt or trousers. For a more feminine look add a lace bralette or a thin waist belt. For a more casual style leave the shirt untucked and layer it on straight or wide-leg trousers. Coat

I love the way a masculine coat can instantly elevate your look and portrait a strong, powerful woman. The wide shoulders prevent it from slouching so it’s perfect to be worn as a cape. Or if you’re feeling extra strong and powerful, layer it on a vest and/or a jacket for the ultimate gentlemen look.

Masculinity and femininity are just styles. They are interpretations.

Accessories

Last but not least men’s accessories can be versatile too! I’m not sure why differentiate between men/women accessories anyway! I love borrowing his ties and cufflinks and colour matching them to my outfit. Men’s belts are also perfect for belting your jacket as they’re usually more chunky than women’s belts creating a strong but elegant look.
